Choosing Where to Stay

What is the best island to stay on, São Tomé or Príncipe?+

São Tomé has more hotels, easier logistics, and the international airport. Príncipe is smaller, wilder, and home to the country's two ultra-luxury resorts (Sundy Praia and Bom Bom). Many travelers split nights between both islands. A 30-minute flight connects them.

How much does a luxury hotel cost?+

Budget guesthouses start around $50 per night. Mid-range boutique hotels run $150 to $250. Luxury Roças sit around $300 to $500. Príncipe's ultra-luxury resorts run $1,000 to $1,500 per night all-inclusive. Most hotels accept Euros and US Dollars alongside the local Dobra.

When is the best time to book?+

Hotels fill up fastest June to September (dry season, peak travel) and December to January (Christmas and New Year). Book 3 to 4 months ahead for those windows. The gravana rainy season sees lower rates and easier availability.

Do hotels offer airport transfers?+

Most mid-range and luxury hotels include airport transfers in their rates or arrange them for a small fee. Príncipe resorts include both the inter-island flight and ground transfers. Budget guesthouses typically expect you to arrange your own taxi.

Can I book São Tomé hotels online?+

Some hotels accept online bookings through standard channels. Most boutique stays, eco-lodges, and historic Roça plantations prefer direct contact via WhatsApp or email. That's often where you'll find the best rates. We connect you directly with each property's booking team.

Are there family-friendly hotels?+

Pestana São Tomé has the largest pool and family infrastructure. Club Santana is well-suited for active families. Omali Lodge is comfortable for older kids. Príncipe resorts are honeymooner-focused, better for couples than children.
